How Need is Determined
HBS Scholarships are based on a candidate’s income from the last three years, along with their assets. Students with higher earnings contribute at a higher rate than students with lower earnings. If someone is married and/or has children, Harvard also considers a portion of the spouse’s income and assets, as the candidate’s higher cost of living. Harvard helps deserving candidates meet their full financial need through a combination of these resources:
HBS Scholarships are funded by the alumni. Here the college tries to pair alumni and scholarship recipients who share similar backgrounds or aspirations to create meaningful connections between past HBS classes and those that follow.
John C. Phelan (MBA 1990) Forward Fellowship
Harvard announced its new Forward Fellowship which is designed to support students from lower-income backgrounds who carried significant financial burdens or obligations.
George Leadership Fellowship
This fellowship is open to HBS students in the third year of the joint degree program with Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), the fellowship reflects the foundation’s commitment to enhancing public service by investing in character formation and leadership development.
