Texas McCombs understands that pursuing an MBA is a big investment and thus, they award financial assistance to many MBA students to help cover tuition and living costs.
Texas McCombs MBA students have their own financial aid team to assist in the process of securing funding. Thus candidates must reach out to the dedicated McCombs Financial Aid Team with all the financial aid questions. The various offerings are as follows:

While McCombs Financial Aid Team does not take part in the selection process of Admissions Recruiting Awards, candidates must apply for scholarships from other organizations like Fastweb, Sallie Mae’s Scholarship Search, or Juno’s MBA Scholarships list.

Education loans are important as it helps cover a candidate’s MBA education. In Texas McCombs, loans can only be awarded one academic year at a time. If a candidate is applying from a private lender, they must keep in mind that the maximum certification periods applicable to your program will be fall/spring for a single academic year. The various loans available are:

- Private Loans
Teaching & Research Assistantships
Assistantships within McCombs are identified by the individual academic departments. McCombs therefore, encourages incoming students to connect with the academic departments directly upon arrival to campus to identify these opportunities.
Candidates should note that MBA students cannot take on teaching or research assistantships for more than 15 hours per week and not gain in-state tuition. Before considering any assistantship, it is important that students should also keep in mind that their mandatory 15-hours-per-semester course load.

Students have a subject in their first semester termed “BA 181 – Strategic Career Planning,” which focuses on identifying and helping students develop their professional goals.

McCombs School of Business MBA Application Process
The latest application requirements set by the McCombs School of Business MBA admission office are described below.
Essays are a crucial part when it comes to accessing a prospective candidate’s application and strong applications convey careful research on Texas McCombs and enthusiasm for the program. Therefore, candidates are requested to carefully write the following essays along with the optional statement.
Essay 1:We will learn a lot about your professional background through your resume and letter of recommendation, but we want to get to know you further. Please introduce yourself. Select only one communication method for your response:
a. Write an essay (250 words)
b.Share a video introduction (one minute in length)
Essay 2: Picture yourself at the completion of your MBA journey. Describe how you spent your time as a TexasMcCombs MBA student to achieve your personal and professional goals.(500 words)
Optional Statement: Please provide any additional information you believe is important or address any areas of concern that you believe will be beneficial to MBA Admissions In considering your application. (e.g. gaps in work experience, choice of recommender, academic performance, or extenuating personal circumstances) (250 words)

Texas McCombs requires one recommendation from a person who has supervised the candidate’s work and assessed their performance. The Admissions Committee limits each application to one letter of recommendation and cannot accept additional recommendations.
While completing the recommendation form, the recommender will have to assess specific competencies and traits and answer the following three questions:
- Please provide a brief description of your interaction with the applicant and, if applicable, the applicant’s role in your organizations. (50 words)
- How does the performance of the applicant compare to that of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? For example, what are the applicant’s principal strengths? (Recommended word count: 250 words)
- Describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant’s response. (Recommended word count: 250 words)
The recommender will have the option to upload a response to the optional question: “Is there anything else we should know?”
Here are some tips for the letter of recommendation:
Who can give a recommendation: You will have to provide details of one recommender who can be your reporting manager/ previous manager/ senior colleague/ current client/ previous client/ business partner/ supplier/ auditor etc.
How a letter of recommendation should be written: The recommender should add specific instances/examples of the candidate’s professional work together.
How to send the letter of recommendation: The recommender should send the recommendation from the official email id only. If the recommender does not have an official id – then proof that you reported / or was supervised by this person should be attached.
