3. Which Indian B-schools require GMAT 700+ score?

A HIGH GMAT SCORE DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADMISSION TO TOP B-SCHOOL

If you have a GMAT 700 or more, you can apply to all the Indian B-schools. There is no doubt about that.

Not all B-schools require GMAT 700+ score. It also depends on the student profiles they receive in each batch. That’s how they determine the average GMAT score of the batch.

Let us look at the Indian B-schools of which the average GMAT scores are higher than 700.

Not really.

The GMAT score is just one aspect of your MBA profile. If you have a slightly lower GMAT score but a strong profile, you may still be admitted to any of the B-schools mentioned above.

5. How to apply to other MBA programs offered by top B-schools in India?

B-SCHOOLS DO NOT ACCEPT CAT/GMAT. THEY HAVE SPECIFIC ENTRANCE EXAM FOR THE CANDIDATES

If you have done some research on applying to B-schools abroad, you must have seen that they accept the GMAT or the GRE scores.

But, applying to Indian B-schools might be slightly different. While a lot of B-schools, as mentioned above, accept GMAT scores for specific MBA programs, you will have to submit the CAT scores or specific B-school entrance exam scores to apply to other MBA programs.

We will give you an example here.

You must know about the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (SIBM). They have their own entrance exam – SNAP – that you will have to take to apply for the MBA programs at the B-school.

Another example is that of XLRI. Yes, we have mentioned XLRI in the list above. But XLRI accepts GMAT scores of domestic students only for the executive program. If you are to apply to their other PGDM programs, you need to appear for the XAT, which is an aptitude test specific to Xavier institutes.

Quick Facts!

There are 7 popular, national-level MBA entrance exams in India. They are CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, SNAP, NMAT, and ATMA. There are state-level entrance exams such as MAH CET and KMAT 2021, which will help you get into MBA colleges in Maharashtra, Karnataka, etc.

But what is the GMAT advantage?

GMAT is a standardized test that has been gaining popularity in India lately. Initially, GMAT was accepted only by 37 B-schools. But now, hundreds of Indian B-schools accept GMAT scores.

Here are three main reasons why you should take the GMAT:

i. Score validity
ii. Scope for score improvement
iii. Scheduling flexibility

Your GMAT score is valid for five years. Unlike the CAT score that is valid for a year, you can take the GMAT now and apply to your desired B-schools in a couple of years. You don’t have to retake it unless you WANT to.

If you wish to improve your GMAT score, you can work on it for a couple of months and retake the GMAT. But if you want to get a better CAT score, you will have to wait a year to retake the exam.

Another important point about the GMAT is that you can schedule the GMAT any time you want and take the exam from home. You don’t even have to go to a test center anymore.

With the GMAT online exam in place, you can book your GMAT slot based on your convenience and take your exam from home. It can’t get better than this. 😉
