IIM-A PGPX admission process

The admission process for IIM PGPX takes place in two stages:

1. Shortlisting candidates for personal interview based on their PGPX application, GMAT score, and MBA essays

IIM-B MBA programs

IIM-B offers an Executive Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management. It is a one-year intensive program designed for students with 5-12 years of work experience.

IIM Lucknow flagship programme

The flagship programme at IIM Lucknow is the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). This a two-year full-time, residential programme, at the end of which the candidates are awarded a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

i. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma ) or B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers -India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers India)

5. IIT Kharagpur

The academic unit of IIT Kharagpur that offers an MBA course is called the Vinod Gupta School of Management. The Vinod Gupta School of Management is the first business school to be established in an Indian Institute of Technology!

IIT Kharagpur MBA programs

The Master in Business Administration (MBA) program offered by IIT Kharagpur is its flagship program. It is a two-year residential program.

This MBA college also offers a Micro Specialization in Business Analytics. This can be taken up by students along with their regular MBA program.

IIT Kharagpur MBA fee

The IIT Kharagpur MBA fee is INR 11,75,336 for the two year MBA program at Vinod Gupta School of Management. The MBA fee at IIT Kharagpur is split between the four semesters and includes caution money and deposits for the hostel, library, and institute.

Standardized tests for IIT Kharagpur MBA application

Domestic candidates applying for the MBA program at IIT Kharagpur have to get a 90th percentile score on the CAT.

International candidates are not required to take the CAT. They can directly submit their online application along with the scanned copies of the required documents.

IIT Kharagpur MBA admission process

IIT Kharagpur has a two-step admission process:

1. Personal Interview

2. Final selection

Once you submit your application, the AdComs at IIT Kharagpur evaluate your profile based on your CAT score and degree scores. If you have been shortlisted, you will be invited for a personal interview.

Once the personal interview is done, they will calculate your total score taking into consideration your CAT score, your performance in the personal interview, and the application rating.

Once this is completed, they will publish the selected students list.

IIT Kharagpur MBA eligibility criteria

Given below is the basic eligibility criteria as listed out by the college:

1. You should either have a bachelor’s degree of minimum 4-year duration in engineering, technology, pharmacy, medicine, or similar disciplines or a master’s degree in Science/Economics/Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at the Bachelor’s level).

2. You should submit a medical certificate stating that you are fit. There should be no discrepancies.

3. You need to have a 90 percentile in the CAT.

6. IIM Kozhikode

IIM-K management programs

IIM-K’s flagship programme is the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP).

Other management courses offered by IIM-K are:

1. Fellowship Programme in Management (PhD)

2. Post Graduate Programme in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM)

3. PhD Programme in Management

4. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

5. Management Development Programme (MDP)

IIM-K fees

You will have to pay a total of INR 20,50,000 for the programme. In addition to this amount, you need to pay ₹ 1000 during application and ₹ 25,000 as a caution deposit once admitted. Mess fees will be separate.

Standardized tests for IIM-K PGP admission

Just like the other IIMs, if you are an Indian candidate, you need to take the CAT and score 85 percentile on it.

If you are an international candidate, you need to submit the GMAT scores along with three reference letters.

IIM-K PGP admission process

IIM-K PGP admission process consists of three stages:

Stage 1: The business school considers the CAT score. Post this, if you meet the basic eligibility criteria, you will receive an email for online registration for admissions at IIM-K. You need to complete the registration process to be considered for Stage 2.

Stage 2: The business school creates a shortlist of candidates in each reservation category. These lists will be based on an Aggregate Index Score (AIS) which is computed based on the performance in CAT, academic performance in Class X & XII, work experience, and gender diversity.

Stage 3: The shortlisted candidates will be asked to appear for a personal interview. IIM-K will be put up the merit list post this stage.

IIM-K PGP eligibility criteria

Given below is the eligibility criteria for IIM-K PGP applicants:

1. You must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 60% marks. Students in their final year of undergraduate degree can also apply for admission.

2. You should have a valid CAT score – 85 percentile is the cutoff score.

3. If you are an international candidate, you can apply with your valid GMAT score.

7. IIM Indore

IIM Indore management programs

The Post Graduate Programme in Management is IIM Indore’s flagship programme.

Other than the PGP course, IIM Indore offers six other management programmes:

The PGP course fee for domestic students is INR 21,17,158/-. Whereas, NRI or foreign candidates joining with their GMAT scores will have to pay a fee of INR 31,17,158/-.

You must take the CAT in order to apply for admission at IIM Indore.

If you are an international candidate, you will have to take the GMAT and submit a valid score.

IIM Indore MBA admission process

Every candidate will have to undergo the three-step admission process before they are admitted to the PGP.

Step 1: The candidate needs to meet the basic eligibility criteria (mentioned below).

Step 2: The shortlisted candidates will have to take a Written Ability Test (WAT) and appear for a Personal Interview (PI).

Step 3: The candidates shortlisted in the second round will be part of the final selection process.

While CAT/GMAT scores are considered while shortlisting candidates, those scores are not the only criteria for the IIM AdComs to select the applicants. The selection will also be based on your other performances.

This includes your Bachelor’s degree, co-curricular activities, work experience, etc.

IIM Indore PGP eligibility criteria

Given below is the eligibility criteria for the IIM Indore PGP:

1. You must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 50% marks.

2. You should have a valid CAT score – 90 percentile is the cutoff score.

8. IIT Delhi

IIT DMS management programs

The management programs at IIT Delhi are offered by the Department of Management Studies (DMS).

If you are looking to apply for the MBA program at IIT Delhi, you need to appear for the CAT and get a 90+ percentile overall score and get a 80+ sectional percentile.

IIT Delhi MBA admission process

The admission process at IIT Delhi is the same as that at IIT Kharagpur.

It is a two-step process:

  1. Personal Interview
  2. Final selection

Online applications will be open the day after the CAT scores have been declared. Once you submit your application, the AdComs at IIT Delhi evaluate your profile based on your CAT score and degree scores. If you have been shortlisted, you will be invited for a personal interview.

Once the personal interview is done, they will calculate your total score, taking into consideration your CAT score, your performance in the personal interview, and the application rating.

Once this is completed, they will publish the selected students list.

IIT Delhi MBA eligibility criteria

There are certain eligibility criteria that you need to meet to be considered for the IIT Kharagpur MBA program.

Given below is the basic eligibility criteria as listed by the MBA college:

  1. You should have a bachelor’s degree with 60% marks in aggregate.
  2. You need to have a 90 percentile in the CAT.

9. Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI)

XLRI management programs

XLRI is one of the oldest and the best private management institutes in the country. 

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is XLRI’s flagship program. But the institute also offers other management courses.

The two-year PGDM course at XLRI will cost you INR 28,60,000/-.

You can apply for XLRI’s PGDM course only if you take their entrance exam, Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT.

XLRI PGDM admission process

You need to go through two stages of the admission process before you get selected to XLRI PGDM course.

Once you take the XAT and apply for admission, your application will undergo a review process. Post this, they will shortlist the candidates who need to appear for a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview.

Once you complete this step of the admissions process, you just need to wait for them to put up the final admission decision.

XLRI PGDM eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria to apply for the PGDM program at XLRI is just the bare minimum.

You just need to have a bachelor’s degree (3 years) in any discipline. You can apply for their management program even if you are in the final year of college.

10. Management Development Institute (MDI)

MDI management programs

Like XLRI, MDI is also a privately owned business school. MDI offers a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and it is the flagship program at this college.

Other than this, there are six other management programs offered by the business school.

This includes:

  1. PGDM – HRM
  2. PGDM – IB
  3. PGDM – National Management Programme
  4. PGDM – Public Policy and Management
  5. PGDM (Executive Management Programme)
  6. Fellowship Programme in Management

MDI PGDM fee

The MDI PGDM fee for domestic candidates is INR 29,58,200.

But if you are an NRI or a foreign student, you will have to pay a little more than INR 56,00,000 for the two-year programme.

Standardized tests for MDI PGDM course

Similar to other business schools we discussed earlier, candidates from India will have to appear for the CAT and submit the scores.

Whereas, foreign candidates can take the GMAT and submit a valid GMAT score for application.

MDI PGDM admission process

After you submit the online application with your CAT scores, the admission process at MDI, Gurgaon includes two steps:

  1. Shortlisting candidates for group discussion and personal interview
  2. Final selection of candidates

The final selection of candidates is based on their CAT score, X and XII marks, bachelor’s degree marks aggregate, work experience, and other factors.

MDI PGDM eligibility criteria

Given below is the basic eligibility criteria for MDI PGDM:

  1. 50% marks in X and XII standard
  2. Bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks

Students who are in their final year of college can also apply for the programme.

Indian School of Business (ISB)

ISB has two campuses – Hyderabad and Mohali. When you apply to the management program at ISB, you cannot choose the campus. You will be allotted a campus.

But you don’t have to worry about it because there is no difference between both the campuses except for the location. 🙂

ISB’s post graduate programmes

ISB is known for its PGP in Management. It is a 12-month course designed specifically for candidates with work experience of 2-20 years.

ISB offers other programs as well.

The ISB YLP or Young Leaders Programme is an early entry option to PGP given to students in the final year of college. This is an opportunity for them to secure a PGP seat which they can claim once they have the required work experience.

If you are looking to apply to ISB, you need to take the GMAT or the GRE. A good GMAT score will be 675 or higher. But you can definitely apply if you have a GMAT 655.
